The college was founded in 1960 by the Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha to train Nurses and Midwives. The institution offers a 3-year basic general nursing program leading to the award of a Registered Nurse (RN) certificate. It also offers a post-basic midwifery program for professional nurses which leads to the award of Registered Midwife (RM) certificate.
